  14. <h1>Mesa 7.1 Release Notes / August 26, 2008</h1>
  15. <p>
  16. Mesa 7.1 is a new development release.
  17. There have been many internal code changes since Mesa 7.0.x.
  18. It should be relatively stable, but those who are especially concerned about
  19. stability should wait for Mesa 7.2 or use Mesa 7.0.4 (the previous stable
  20. release).
  21. </p>
  22. <p>
  23. Note that this version of Mesa does not use the GEM memory manager.
  24. The master branch of git uses GEM.
  25. </p>
  26. <p>
  27. DRM version 2.3.1 should be used with Mesa 7.1
  28. </p>

  44. <li>Assorted DRI driver enhancements
  45. <li>Reduced dependencies between X server and Mesa
  46. <li>GL_EXT_texture_from_pixmap extension for Xlib driver
  47. <li>Support for the GL shading language with i965 driver (implemented by Intel)
  48. <li>ATI R500 series support (Radeon X1300&#8211;X1950) in r300 DRI driver
  49. </ul>
  50. <h2>Bug fixes</h2>
  51. <ul>
  52. <li>Numerous GLSL fixes
  53. <li>Fixed some error code/detection bugs in the GLSL-related API functions
  54. <li>Lots of DRI driver fixes.
  55. </ul>
  56. <h2>To Do (someday) items</h2>
  57. <ul>
  58. <li>Remove the MEMCPY() and _mesa_memcpy() wrappers and just use memcpy().
  59. Probably do the same for malloc, calloc, etc.
  60. The wrappers were useful in the past for memory debugging but now we
  61. have valgrind. Not worried about SunOS 4 support anymore either...
  62. <li>Switch to freeglut
  63. <li>Fix linux-glide target/driver.
  64. <li>Improved lambda and derivative calculation for frag progs.
  65. </ul>
